Teacher Subject Specialism Training (TSST)
Online course (with optional face-to-face days)
The purpose of teacher subject specialism training is to improve the subject knowledge of non-specialist teachers and returning teachers, and increase the number of hours taught.
We are pleased to launch our 2018-19 TSST courses through an online platform. No need for days out of school.
The course consists of 200 hours of guided learning with video support and evaluations. Participants can sign up at any time during the year and the course materials can be accessed at any time of the day enabling participants to fit the learning in around their teaching commitments.
All participants are invited to attend to face-to-face days in July 2019 to access the practical aspects of the subject.
This training is fully funded by the DfE and therefore is free of charge to participants. To be eligible for the free training you must be either:
a non-specialist teacher who is currently teaching mathematics, physics or MFL and who has not undertaken their Initial Teacher Training in the TSST subject they are applying for;
a non-specialist teacher who could potentially teach mathematics, physics or MFL in addition to or instead of their main subject;
